The Europe Forum brings together citizens and the top names of politics, economy and research in September
The future of Finland and Europe will be on the table again at this year’s Europe Forum in Turku from 30 August to 1 September. Now that the pandemic has subsided, the event returns closer to citizens and encourages everyone to join in open discussion. This year’s theme of the Europe Forum is A Changing Europe.

The second Speakers’ Corner guest of the spring, Mikko Hautala, brought his top-level expertise to the fore in the discussion about the changed superpower relations and the relations between Europe and Finland and the United States.

Prime Minister Sanna Marin will participate in the first Speakers’ Corner on March 16
Europe Forum, which traditionally opens Finland’s political season each autumn, offers two Speakers’ Corner discussions this spring. The first guest of the Speakers’ Corner is Prime Minister Sanna Marin. The discussion will be moderated by Markku Jokisipilä, the Director of The Centre for Parliamentary Studies.

Europe Forum is one of the main events of the year focusing on EU politics. During these past few years, the Forum has introduced to the Finnish EU discussions a well-needed diversity of topics.

I think it is important that the Europe Forum gathers Finns together every year to discuss EU matters. Right now is a good time for this discussion, because we are living in a time of transition. The Europe Forum can truly serve as a platform for building a common mindset for national EU policy.

The changing reality of world politics and Russia’s cruel war of aggression in Ukraine have highlighted the need for European unity. I am glad that this year, too, the Europe Forum has offered us a platform to discuss and seek a common vision for the future of Europe and Finland’s place within.
