Over 40 organisers are involved, with their own programme sections. During the three-day event, the versatile discussions and panels will be participated by, for example, Commissioner Jutta Urpilainen, MEP Ville Niinistö, Professor Alexander Stubb, Governor of the Bank of Finland Olli Rehn, and Mayor of Turku Minna Arve. In addition, the Europe Forum will see MEPs, researchers, professors, members of youth organisations, as well as experts from various fields.

– The table is set for an active European debate. Now is the right time to discuss Finland’s role in the EU and as a member of NATO, but also more generally, discuss what we want from Western cooperation. What are we prepared to commit to, and where are the limits of Finland’s special characteristics? The Europe Forum is the number one forum for EU discussions in Finland, says Matti Niemi, Chairman of the Europe Forum in Turku association (Eurooppa Foorumi Turussa ry).

Wednesday’s topics include the self-government of Åland and Crimea. On Thursday, the discussions will focus on the green transition, as well as the means of saving the Baltic Sea: green innovations, infrastructure investments, maritime corridors, and energy markets. Also, the differences and common features of local agreement in Finland and Sweden will be compared.

Friday’s themes at the Europe Forum are foreign, security, and defence policy, as well as peace mediation as a means of consolidating European security.
